ORDERING INFORMATION

(updated 07-12-02)

Our goal is to make the process of shipping and receiving your order as simple and painless as possible. Please read this page carefully. There is much incorrect information floating around on regulations pertaining to interstate shipment of firearms and we hope to clarify the process for you.

Arizona Response Systems is a mail-order company. We do not have a showroom. We usually have a display at the Phoenix Crossroads of the West Gunshows, The Small Arms Review Machinegun Show, and Termark Gunshows during the cooler months. In special circumstances we can meet with local customers, however this is strictly by appointment only. The best way to contact us is by e-mail. You will usually receive a response the same day. The best time to call is between 11 AM and 2 PM, and after 5 PM Arizona Time. Arizona does not participate in daylight savings. There is no secretary. Your call will be answered by a gunsmith competent to answer your questions. We will be happy to discuss any aspect of your project, but please keep your call short and to the point. While we do not want to seem impolite, and your uncle's latest boar hunt may be very exciting, it takes us away from working on guns. Many times if we are involved in a critical task, we will not stop to answer the phone. Please leave a message with a clear return phone number. Most calls will be returned in a few hours.

These are for convenience only. Orders in crayon scrawled on the back of a napkin are also accepted. ARS maintains only those records required by federal law. There is no mailing list and we do not share your information.

PAYMENT OPTIONS

You may pay for your order in advance by cash, personal check, money order, bank check, Pay Pal, or Credit Card. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. We deposit checks, money orders, etc. upon receipt which gives plenty of time for them to clear. There is a $25 charge for returned checks. We will not redeposit a returned check. We will void it, return it to you, and you will be required to pay by credit card or certified funds. Government agencies may pay by purchase order with payment due within 90 days. Credit Cards are billed when your order is ready to ship. If you expect to need additional parts that cannot be quoted in advance, please provide a credit card number to avoid delays in returning your order to you. Please provide your credit card billing address for card verification, if different than your shipping address. Arizona residents add 8.5% sales tax on merchandise purchases.

If you are purchasing a complete firearm, you may deduct $15 from the total to cover Next Day Air shipment of your certified check and transfer FFL. We recognise there is a time value on money, and that unfortunately there are some who will agree to a purchase and then procrastinate on sending funds. This arrangement will hopefully prevent us from tagging an item as sold, informing other interested parties that the item is sold, and then finding the buyer has backed out. It will also prevent us from erroneously selling the item to someone else should there be a delay in receiving funds sent by snail-mail. Firearm prices reflect a 3% cash discount. Actual price is 3% higher. Those who choose to pay by other than certified funds are not eligible for this 3% cash discount.

SHIPPING OPTIONS

We can only ship contract carrier to a street address - no POBs. We ship all items with "Adult Signature Required. No Driver Release."

UPS. As of 10/11/99, UPS has disallowed handguns to be shipped except by next day air. Since they hire convicted felons (they don't cost as much) and cannot keep their employees from stealing, they have decided to punish the consumer through ridiculous restrictions. Nevertheless, UPS has a very good track record with getting the package delivered. In ten years and over a thousand packages, we have had only one lost (stolen from inside the UPS warehouse) and two damaged guns. UPS paid promptly on the theft and one of the damaged packages, but claimed the other was inadequately packed. Considering the guy who packs the guns has experience rigging door-bundles for military parachute drop, you can judge that statement for yourself. Figure about $35 to UPS NEXT DAY a handgun with $700 insurance. This restriction does not apply to long guns or gun parts. A 15 pound long gun with $1000 insurance and packing usually runs $30 to ship UPS GROUND. You may ship longuns or handguns directly to us via UPS. You do not need to go through a dealer. You can track your UPS package at http://www.ups.com

US POSTAL SERVICE. You may ship longuns to us via US Postal Service. Delivery confirmation does not specify to whom or even what address a package has been delivered, so is of dubious value. Handguns may only be shipped US Postal Service dealer-to-dealer with Postal Form 1508 (affirmation both parties are Federal Firearms Licensees) which is linked below. USPS does not allow handguns to be shipped by private party, even if the recipient is a Federal Firearms Licensee. USPS Form 1508 FFL to FFL Handgun Affirmation. You can track your USPS package at http://www.usps.com.

As of 07-01-02, the USPS has dramatically increased the cost of shipping Priority mail (more than 35% for some zones) and increased the complexity of calculating postage by adding 136 possibilities for every pound in weight. Effective immediately, ARS is discontinuing all outgoing USPS Priority Mail Shipping on packages weighing over 16 ounces. Shipping Charge is $5 for USPS Priority mail up to 1 pound, and $10 for Fedex up to 5 pounds. Over 5 pounds call for quote.

AIRBORNE EXPRESS. Airborne Express hates gun owners and will not ship any firearms or firearm accessories under any circumstances. Nor does Airborne Express have the courtesy to even respond to pleas to change their policy. Boycott the bastards!

FEDERAL EXPRESS. We cannot receive Federal Express at the 7th Avenue address (long story). If you must use FEDEX, please call for an alternative shipping address. We can return packages via FEDEX and it is our preferred shipper for returning handguns. Next Day FEDEX for a handgun with $700 insurance usually runs around $25. If you include an e-mail address, FEDEX will automatically send you tracking information. You can track FEDEX shipments at http://www.fedex.com

NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT

ATF has clarified that there is no requirement for ATF Form 5 on NFA items transferred for repair or restoration, as ATF does not consider that "transfer" to be the same as a transfer as defined and regulated by the National Firearms Act. NFA Items and Form 5.

HOW TO PACK YOUR ORDER

Please note this is a suggestion based on our experience in shipping firearms and is not a requirement. Package items well, with plenty of padding. Pay particular attention rifle muzzles, sights and cocking handles. While you should pack your order well, remember that firearms are not designed to be fragile. There is no point in disassembling your gun and wrapping each piece seperately in bubble wrap and duct tape. The configuration in which it is most robust is fully assembled. It is not fun to spend an hour and half on our end unwrapping each part. A single layer of large bubble wrap or a double layer of small bubble wrap or sheet foam is just fine. Then fold a piece of cardboard over any protruding or sharp parts. Place in box with styrofoam (preferred) or crumpled newspaper. Alternatively, place in a tightly fitting box with minimal padding, then pack that box inside a larger box with styrofoam peanuts. For comparison, most manufacturers ship their products in a plastic bag inside a cardboard box that prevents substantial movement, but with little if any additional padding. Rifle packing example. Please do not send rifle cases or large handgun cases. With 50+ rifles here sometimes, we have no place to store the cases.

TURNAROUND TIME

Turnaround is 6 - 8 weeks. 95% of orders are completed with 6 weeks. While your order may be completed much earlier, we will not promise better. Of course, if you require special order parts it may take longer, however we will be happy to keep you updated by e-mail. Please do not call for a status check before 8 weeks. You can confirm delivery with your contract carrier at the links shown. "UPS said that you signed for my package at 10:34 this morning - did you get it?" is a stupid question that wastes everyones time.

GUARANTEE

ARS guarantees all labor to be free from defect for life. Manufacturer's warranty applies to parts. Our finishes are guaranteed against chipping, peeling, flaking, or anything that we evaluate as "not right" for life. We cannot guarantee against abuse, neglect, or honest wear. Please ship assembled guns. If you insist on sending bag-o-parts, include a detailed inventory sheet. We are not responsible for loc-tited parts, however if you know something has been loc-tited or glued in place, please let us know so we can take appropriate measures during disassembly

NIGHT SIGHTS

We remove night sights, if possible, before processing. Factory Glock staked front sights cannot be removed without destroying them. Add $40 for replacing factory Glock staked front night sights. PT/Innovative Weaponry/MMC night sights fail every time and if they cannot be removed, they cannot be processed. Trijicon and Meprolite fail about 2% of the time at the 300 degree curing temperature.
