Gunsmithing: Heckler & Koch

(Updated 06-02-02)

ARS has earned a national reputation for fine work on Heckler & Koch firearms. From simple refinishing on full and semiauto rifles, to the reworking of USC and SL8 rifles, ARS can satisfy most customizing requirements. ARS is the authorized refinishing center for the HK USA repair department and has a decade of experience on Title 1 and NFA weapon.

Refinishing.

Technical aspects of refinishing are described in detail on the Finishes section of this website. Refinishing an HK Pistol in METACOL III Satin Black or Gray is $150. Additional Magazines are +$10 each. Return FedEx shipping, handling, and insurance is $25. Deduct $25 for USPs and other synthetic frame pistols. ARS does not refinish the synthetic frames. Slide only is $75, plus $10 return FedEx shipping. Relettering in red and white is standard if the engraving is deep enough. Laser-etched lettering is usually too shallow. Please specify if you do not want this service.

Refinishing an HK rifle or submachinegun is $200 and includes 2 magazines. Additional magazines are $15 each. Price includes return UPS ground shipping and $1000 insurance. Additional insurance is $0.75 per $100.

HK91k Conversion.

The HK91k Conversion shortens the barrel to 16" overall length, including the flash supressor. This is a less-expensive way to obtain the look of a G3k without having to register the gun as a short-barreled rifle. We can also perform this service on post-ban guns using our proprietary fake flash supressor. Since we do not remove the barrel, only flash supressors with the standard HK 15mmx1.0 RH thread can be used. We will touch-up the finish with black METACOL III on the barrel, and dark gray phosphate on the flash supressor, as on the original. We can only touch up the paint in black - we are unable to match the blue-gray of older SACO imports (but we're working on it!). o shorten and rethread and solder and touchup refinish (black only, cannot match blue-gray). Price with customer supplied flash supressor is $100 and includes return UPS ground shipping and insurance to $1000. Please send only the barreled receiver. Add $25 for ARS to supply an HK flash supressor or a fake flash supressor. Price is $75 if performed in conjunction with a complete rifle refinish. We cannot shorten an HK 93 unless you register it with ATF as a Short Barreled Rifle - $200 tax stamp, ATF Form 5320.1 (Form 1) - because at the point it has to be cut and threaded, the tapered barrel is less than the minimum 15mm.

ARS HK USC and SL8-1 Modifications

Turn your gray USC, SL8-1, or AUG USR into a more military black or green. Using the ARS proprietary PLASTICOL (PLASTIc COLor) industrial dying process with anionic and nonionic surfactants, ARS will recolor your plastic. Good penetration resists scratches, yet causes only minimal darkening of factory pictograms. ARS will also machine the ventilation grooves like those found on the UMP and G36.
